Feel Good Project foundation

Founded by Jacqui Arnold and Aleks Abadia and launched in February 2024, Feel Good Project provides free and subsidised professional hair and beauty services to people who face barriers to safe, affordable care. Its work supports people experiencing homelessness, women affected by domestic violence, people in recovery and other communities experiencing hardship.

Paid activations and services, alongside donations and partnerships, help fund community care. Partners include Two Good Co, Addi Road and Women’s Community Shelters, as well as university and community organisations.

Upgrading to Frida’s water storage and distribution system

Frida is a purpose-built mobile salon trailer that brings professional hair and beauty care directly to people facing barriers to access. Feel Good Project supports communities experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage, women in shelters and those rebuilding their lives after domestic violence or recovering from substance use, students through accommodation providers and universities, and people receiving care in mental health units.

Support from the fondation Veolia is helping fund an upgrade to Frida’s water storage and distribution system, increasing the capacity available for hair washing and treatments across these settings.

Future goals: training and career pathways

Feel Good Project aims to develop pathways into hair and beauty careers for young people facing barriers to education, training and employment. This includes young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, those experiencing mental health challenges and those with limited access to support or opportunities.

The ambition is to work with salon, education and community partners to create opportunities for skills development, mentoring, work experience and, where appropriate, apprenticeships. These future pathways would help young people build confidence, explore their interests and take supported steps towards meaningful employment.
