Since 2006, the Foundation has been awarding the Prix du Livre Environnement to support and promote writers and publishers who contribute to raising public awareness of the planet's major challenges.

We believe in the power of books, their capacity to appeal to our conscience and their role of providing information. We believe that when publishers produce books on this topic, they make a substantial contribution to building awareness of environmental challenges and the need to protect our resources.

How it works

The jury meets twice a year:

  • In May, to identify the "nominated" books based on the selection made by the Foundation;
  • In July to select the winners, who are announced at the autumn literary fair Le Livre sur la place in Nancy.

An environmental library at the REcyclerie de Paris

Since its opening in 2014, the Veolia Foundation has been a partner of the REcyclerie de Paris, an eco-responsible third-party space set up in one of the former stations of the Parisian inner ring road.

In particular, it contributes to the eco-cultural programming of the venue, as well as to its environmental library: visitors can borrow, among other things, the winning and nominated books of the Prix du Livre Environnement free of charge!
