Veolia Foundation and Médecins du Monde win a Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy award

The Foundation and its NGO partner Médecins du Monde won a Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy award (i.e. the Trophy in the Corporate Sponsorship category) for their "Prevention and reduction of environmental risks among vulnerable populations in the Philippines" project.

They are running a campaign in Manila, helped by volunteer employees from Veolia Environmental Services' subsidiary Triade Electronique, aimed at raising awareness among informal recyclers who salvage reusable or recyclable materials as well as among their families about the health risks they are exposed to when handling toxic waste and getting them to change the way in which they carry out this work.

Another project backed by the Foundation since 2012 won an award in the "environmental research and forward planning" category: the Great Green Wall in Senegal, driven by the French Center for Scientific Research, or CNRS, an ambitious sustainable development project that includes in particular academic research on ecological restoration and forest regeneration.
