Coordinating aid efforts

Fay, Gustav, Hanna, Ike ... In three weeks, in late August and early September, these large scale hurricanes devastated the coast of the island of Haiti, where 70% of the population live below the poverty line.

According to the UN, the devastation caused by the violence and repetition of the hurricanes has made over 800,000 victims.

In accordance with its partnership agreement, UNICEF asked Veoliaforce to evaluate the drinking water needs and to coordinate the aid efforts.

Franck Haaser, head of emergencies, is now in Gonaïves, in the northwestern part of the island, in the region most affected by the floods, to run this mission.
