Opened by the Veolia Foundation's CEO, Thierry Vandevelde, the Veoliaforce 2019 training session took place near Le Mans, in the Sarthe. For three days, from 26 to 28 June, almost thirty Veolia Group employees came together to train as volunteers for humanitarian emergencies. This practical demonstration of skills sponsorship is an excellent illustration of Veolia Foundation’s actions.
 
The various mobile water production units designed by the Foundation's engineers were deployed: the 2,000 and 15,000 Aquaforce units, able to supply 20 litres per day (WHO standard) to 2,000 and 15,000 people respectively, were used by the participants. Volunteers also learned about water chemistry in special workshops.
 
Training was not only technical. Representatives of Médecins Sans Frontières and the French Red Cross came to present the framework of interventions and describe daily life during missions. The Group's security procedures were also explained. And Marie Gaveriaux, Veoliaforce volunteer who went to Mozambique shortly after hurricane Idai, talked about her experiences on the ground.
 
Veoliaforce volunteers are likely to be approached by the Foundation either for missions during humanitarian emergencies or as part of development projects.
